Jenny Schulder Brant

Beginning 01/18, $9 Class pass option
Jenny has been practicing and studying yoga for over 15 years. Building on her foundation of 14 years of Middle Eastern Folk & Graham Modern Dance built during childhood, she found yoga while working in the world of Media and Entertainment where she was a producer and photographer for major publications and shows. Her study of yoga began to unravel the years of anxiety and stress that had built up due to the frenetic nature of her job and has enabled and empowered her to live a fuller, more well rounded existence. Along her path of yoga, Jenny found its sister science, Ayurveda, which has further strengthened Jenny's resolve to live a creative, inspiring life full of health, well-being and giving. Jenny Schulder Brant is a NAMA Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner(750 hr), Wise Earth Ayurveda Sadikha, a Briala Bodyworks/ Yoga Alliance certified Yoga Teacher (200 hr) and a Steamy Chick certified Vaginal Steam Facilitator. She has continued her education with Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Claudia Welch, Susun Weed and Keli Garza. Integrating all of her life's experiences, Jenny is helping others in the creative community using both Yoga and Ayurveda to bring balance and calm to the chaos of creation. She is equally passionate about educating parents and children about food as medicine, knowing that this is a critical step in fixing the existing health crisis.

“According to kirtan artist and bhakti yoga educator David Newman, kirtan means “to praise that which is exalted”—aka, the divine. The word “kirtan” also stems from a Sanskrit root that means “to cut through,” he says, so kirtan is also “a practice for cutting through the idea of separation, for connecting to our hearts and connecting to the moment through sound.” -The Beginners’ Guide to Kirtan and Mantra. Ayurveda for Winter: 2 Hour Retreat with Jenny Schulder Brant, December 3, 4-6 pm
ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge)
“Ayurveda encourages certain lifestyle interventions and natural therapies to regain a balance between the body, mind, spirit, and the environment.” - hopkinsmedicine.org
The Art of Seasonal Care guides us to flow with nature's changes each new season, nourishing Our Selves. When we are able to adapt well to seasonal shifts, our immune and nervous systems become stronger, and we feel grounded and well-nourished.
Jenny Schulder Brant leads us for an experiential two-hour retreat, where we will learn and practice a beautiful set of winter rituals for health, self care, and restoration.
During Our Retreat
Garshana - Sanskrit for “Dry Brushing” Garshana exfoliates dead skin, enhances circulation of blood and lymph, and promotes toxin eliminations.
Abhyanga - Sanskrit for "Glowing Body", This practice promotes longevity and overall health with a regular practice of abhyanga is grounding and a therapeutic way to connect with one's body and express self-love. Oils are applied to anoint our skin and massage the body. Abyanga decreases the effects of aging, improves joint lubrication & circulation, assists the detoxification processes through stimulating the lymphatic system, calms the nerves, may improve sleep, and pacifies Vata and Pitta and stimulates Kapha Doshas.
Restorative Movement - We will learn grounding practices that are designed to ease stress, create support, and calm the nervous system. We learn together to practice at home throughout the winter to rebalance and recenter.
Warming Beverages & Ayruvedic Sweet Treats - We will share nourishment created to soothe the body and soul for this season. A discussion on the ingredients and their wellness benefits will be shared as we indulge and discuss how specific dietary routines may assist in balancing our individual Doshas (constitutions).
Ayruvedic Ginger Compress - Together, we will DIY a Ginger Compress and explore how and when to use this ancient take- home tool to release muscle tension, move stagnant energy, dissolve mucus and blockages and stimulate circulation.
Community - This retreat is a moment that we will share together to unplug, connect, and reset in a warm and loving atmosphere. Open discussion, sharing, and welcoming hearts
