Life events happen to all of us, but they should never mean the choice between paying rent or utility bills and purchasing food for your family - but they often do. Whether struggling with reduced hours at work, loss of employment, car repairs, death of a family member, personal medical issues, or caring for a loved one, the HDC MidAtlantic Hope & Opportunity Fund has supported 154 households, with nearly $100,000 given directly to residents in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland as they navigate the unexpected.

Meet the Team
My name is Dr. Shavkat Ruziev, and I provide an integrative approach of both western and complementary medicine in my practice. Previously, for over 15 years I worked within Internal Medicine, Critical Care, and Outpatient Medicine, and as a hospitalist, as well. For three of those years, I dedicated myself to treating patients for weight loss and performing esthetic procedures. I have worked in local healthcare settings such as UPMC Pinnacle, WellSpan, and St. Luke’s University Health systems and gained many valuable relationships along the way. Since practicing medicine, my core interests have always been preventive medicine, lifestyle modifications, weight loss, and aesthetics. I believe healthcare should be provided in a 360 degree manner to treat the mind, body, and soul. With a combination of well-researched interventions and holistic medicine, Lancaster Wellness will be able to provide the highest healthcare and make your wellness a priority.
My name is Donovan Carper. As a Master’s Prepared Registered Nurse, ACE-certified personal trainer, and ACE certified weight management specialist, my goal is to share research-backed lifestyle strategies to help improve the lives of others. I have devoted my life and career to learning about disease prevention, management, and treatment. I have seen first hand the suffering and sadness chronic disease can cause. My goal is to prevent this suffering and minimize dependency on the healthcare system by guiding people to help them achieve optimal health using fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle interventions.
My name is Christa Galczynski. I am a Nurse Practitioner at Lancaster Wellness. I became a nurse practitioner because of my passion for patient-centered care. I strive to educate my patients and provide them with the care they deserve, as well as the resources they need in order to live a healthy lifestyle and best manage their medical conditions. Lancaster Wellness aligns perfectly with my goals because we focus on 360 degree patient care, medical weight loss, primary care, and aesthetic services, allowing us to take care of the whole aspect of the patient and not solely focus specifically on their medical condition. We take a holistic approach to our care, with lifestyle changes and medical interventions as necessary.

Research has begun to support this traditional wisdom. A 2018 study published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience found that practicing a mindful, slow breathing (10 breaths per minute or fewer) was associated with “increased comfort, relaxation, pleasantness, vigor and alertness, and reduced symptoms of arousal, anxiety, depression, anger, and confusion.” An engaged breath practice can help lower your heart rate and blood pressure, as well as relieve minor fatigue, according to medical research. When you practice pranayama, you may notice a change in your energy levels, the temperature of your body, or even your emotional state as you practice.

About Tracey
Tracey began her journey almost 30 years ago when she started practicing yoga as a means to help physically facilitate her career as a modern dancer. Over time she began to see yoga as an art form similar in many ways to dance. She has a Master’s Degree in Dance and Dance Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and after years of teaching modern dance and choreography at colleges, universities and dance centers, Tracey shifted her teaching focus to yoga. She earned her yoga teacher certification with Briala Silva in 2012 and she currently teaches in Lancaster, PA. . In 2019 she wrote and published a book, Speaking Shapes: 52 Lesson Plans to Inspire a Creative and Meaningful Yoga Practice. She is also currently enrolled in the 2022/2023 Duke Health and Wellness Coach Training program and plans to become an Integrated Health Coach after earning her certification. As a yoga teacher, Tracey hopes to impart her love of the body's capacity for movement and her passion for investigating the body-mind connection with her students. Tracey’s classes utilize themes, creative sequencing and imagery to unite breath and movement. She enjoys seeing her students find their own unique dance within their individual practices.

Sandra Rodriguez Olmos
I Yoga journey in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in 2017. At Healing Cabo, I earned my national yoga certification and taught at a local architectural firm. I continued my yoga practice in Tehuacan, Puebla in Mexico, my home. There, I opened my own studio called Apapacho Yoga. I also taught in a local studio, called Sevana Yoga. Throughout my practice and continued training, I deepened my spiritual connection to yoga and it's meanings. Since moving to the United States, I have begun to focus on the chakras, mantras, mudras, and meditation, along with yoga. I have also attended various virtual yoga workshops which have helped to introduce me to new practices like Meso-american medicine. My yoga classes focus on promoting self healing and realization, peace, and deepening your connection with your surroundings.

Chakra Exploration & Flow: 8 Week Series with Megan, Mondays 6:45-8:00 pm
Chakra Exploration & Flow - An 8 Week Series
So what are these Chakras that we hear so much about in the yoga world?
Simply put, Chakras are vortexes of energy located along our spines, but they are so much more than that. Megan Hall-Bunty likes to look at the Chakra system as an ancient form of psychology. Working through our Chakras systematically will help us understand ourselves in a whole new way.
Employing asana, mudras (hand gestures), and bandhas (locking/engaging muscles in certain areas of the body), Megan will lead this 75 minute class in an explorative way, allowing you to engage, ask questions, and be curious.
What to Expect:
- 20 – 30 Minutes of Asana (poses) and Gentle Movement
- 30 – 45 Minutes of Meditation, Mudras, Bandhas, and Discussion
Each week will also include a brief introduction to the Chakra system, as well as a quick recap of the previous week. You do not need to attend every week. However, if you will be on vacation and would like to join virtually or receive a recording of the class, please let Megan know ahead of time here. You must register ahead of time for the virtual class if you’d like the recording.
Please note that this is not meant to be a lecture. You are not required to engage in the discussion, but your input and questions are valued and encouraged!
This special series is exchanged the same way as regular classes.

She has held many jobs including preschool aide, piano teacher, and professional musician. She owns a small outdoor yoga studio in East Hempfield, Unity Life Yoga, and is also the Manager at West End Yoga.
